KIBC History

Written by Our Founder Pastor Bud Hennessey

Early in my Christian life, "Christian Radio" had a profound effect upon my spiritual growth. I realized what a wonderful tool it is for encouraging people in thier daily walk with the Lord.

In 1975, as Intermountain Baptist Church began, we prayed for an open door on the local radio station. Within the first year, we began on KAVA AM with a program called "The Good News". It aired at 6:55 a.m. and at 4:05 p.m, just before and after the national news. Then, in 1978, we started a Sunday evening program called "The New Song". It was a two hour program of music and thoughts from the Bible.

In 1984, the vision of owning our own station began to grow, and we formed "Burney Educational Broadcasting Foundation". After doing an engineering study, we filed with the Federal Communications Commission for a frequency and construction permit to build a F.M. station in Burney.

KIBC went on the air March 1987 with 412 watts of power, broadcasting 15 hours a day, with an all volunteer staff.

Since that date, we have raised our power to 3000 watts, and are on the air 24 hours a day to the Glory of God.
