History Of Intermountain Baptist Church

In March of 1975, twelve people invited Pastor Hennessey to come teach their Bible study in Burney. After about six weeks, they decided to begin Sunday morning meetings. On July 1st, Intermountain Baptist Church was born. They met in East Burney Elementary School for about five years.

The church then moved into the Hennessey's home and had two services each week, until the building was completed. The church was built debt-free and has maintained financial freedom ever since.

In 1981, Intermountain Baptist Christian Academy was started with grades K-12.school was successful for ten years. In 1991, we encouraged our people to move into home education, which has been a blessing for the families. We discovered that home education is not for everyone. We now are working together with three other churches and have formed the Mountain Christian Academy. For information about MCA, phone 530 335-3505.

In 1984, we applied for a construction permit to build a Christian Radio Station.t was granted, and KIBC FM went on the air in March 1987.

Our burden was to provide traditional, conservative music that ministers to the soul. We believe music is a very important tool of communication. We disagree with the modern thinking that music is "Amoral". Like everything else, music is used by Satan to destroy lives or by GOD to build up the moral character of individuals.

Intermountain Baptist Church has an AWANA Club, that meets every Sunday at 6:00PM, to minister to the boys and girls. We enjoy working with children. Each summer we have day camps to minister to their spiritual, mental, and physical needs.
